Cheepu is one of three brothers, Garuda, Cheepu and Hitimanga. It is told that the mother of these brothers, requested her husband to give birth to a son that would be the bravest, most truthful and entitled son with superior traits. Her husband told her she would have to wait. Being impatience, she adopted Cheepu when she found him in a bird's nest in a premature condition with only the formation of his head complete. Nonetheless, Cheepu grew to be brave and truthful and is often found protecting the main entrance of shrine from all the dangers. Nagas, or serpents, are his main food.
