This book is made of handmade paper called Lokta. This word "Lokta" refers to local species of Daphne cannabia, small woody plants of the laurel family.  It is the raw material for handmade paper in Nepal.  It grows at an elevation of 6,000 to 10,000 feet in the hills of Western Nepal. The paper has an interesting rough texture.  Its durability and its resistance to insects makes it the choice for official use.
