1601 Life of Buddha Thanka
Living Buddha Thangka illustrates the well known life of Buddha. All the historic part of the life of Buddha is represented visually in the life of Buddha Thangka painting. From the day he was born he was trapped in the palace compounds, and unable to know the evil, pain and suffering that existed in the outside world. The day he first ventured beyond the walls of the castle and came to see, pain, death and suffering - he saw beggar, a cripple, a dead body and a holy man - all of whom deeply affected the Prince, awakening a deep desire to find the cause of suffering and thus alleviate it. In the evening, he escaped the walls of the palace, when all were asleep and began life wandering as a ascetic. He spent years fasting, meditating and wandering in search of the truth. On a full moon night he had a direct realization of enlightment (eternal peace), and was transformed. Now, the Buddah, he spent the rest of his life guiding people towards nirvana, love and friendship. He left this world at the age of eighty, after exhausting his body for the benefit of all sentient beings.
